What Causes Warts and How to Avoid Getting Them

You and I both know that warts suck. But what causes warts and how can you avoid getting them in the first place? That’s a question that I will be answering in this article, so stick around!

Warts are a common problem that plague almost everyone during one point or another. So don’t get stressed out if you just found out that you or someone you know just got one.

What Causes Warts?

Warts are infections on the surface or just below the surface of your skin or mucus membranes. The infections are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

There are many different types of HPV’s, and each different type can form a wart in different areas of your body. For example, some HPV can cause plantar warts which are found on your feet, while another HPV can cause a wart to form in your genital area.

These kind of warts are almost always harmless and pose no threat to your health and wellbeing. At best they’re slightly annoying depending on where they are.

There are a few types which can be cancerous. These are called type 16 and 18, so if you develop a wart in your genital area, and you’re concerned, go talk to your doctor.

It might be embarassing, but don’t you think it is worth it? Instead of walking around worried about cancer, you could go to the doctor for half an hour and be done with it.

How Are Warts Spread?

All warts are spread through some form of physical contact. Most common ways warts are spread are through hand to hand contact, sex, sharing of towels or other intimate items.

Other common places where warts can be spread are bathrooms and public areas. So make sure you wash your hands! 😉

Warts have a surprisingly long incubation period. It can take anything from a few weeks to several months before they start developing on your body.

This can be deceiving because you might unknowingly spread your warts to someone because you thought that you’d gotten rid of them or you just didn’t know you had them in the first place.

If you want to avoid getting warts altogether, you have to stay clear of people who have them. This can get pretty tricky. How do you know if someone has a wart somewhere?

The truth is, you don’t! You really don’t want to turn into that guy or girl who never touches people. So the best thing you can do is relax, and deal with warts if you get them.

It is entirely possible to remove warts. Deal with it if you get one, it isn’t the end of the world :).
