Let’s talk about filiform warts. So you’ve just found out you have an annoying, painful, and embarrassing problem.

What is a filiform wart?
Filiform warts are long, narrow warts that can pop up one at a time or in groups on your eyelids, neck, face or lips.
Once they begin, they can grow rapidly in groups. Doesn’t sound that exciting, does it?
When your skin is wet, the top layer of your skin will grow rapidly, forming the lovely warts you see on your body.
They do spread from person to person though, so if you notice you have one of these warts, don’t go sharing towels or facial products with anyone else, unless you have an evil wart spreading plan.
Causes
Filiform warts are very common, so you aren’t the only one suffering! They are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV).
The good news, and yes, there is some good news…you will not get warts every time you are exposed to HPV ( hurray!) and some people will never catch this HPV symptom.
Extra symptoms
MOST warts are benign (i.e. harmless). One thing they are though is seriously annoying, and you just want to get rid of them once you see them.
Sometimes they can cause itching, bleeding or spread to other places on your body. But don’t scratch– you could accidentally spread your wart to other places on your body.
Other than that, they do not cause any other serious symptoms, it feels like they are just there to piss you off.
Treatment
The great news is that you will not have these things forever! They are usually pretty easy to treat.
First, go to your doctor. I know that those wart creams look really exciting, but make sure that you are using the right one, don’t just grab anything from the store.
The meds that the Dr. prescribes, will use topical irritants to remove the wart. Sometimes your warts can even be frozen and sometimes they have to take them out surgically or using lasers.
Another treatment used by some doctors is to give you a shot of a substance that can make the wart allergic to the substance.
Sounds a little bizarre, but it seems to work in the long run. Although you can knock out your warts pretty quickly with these treatments, there is no cure for the cause of the warts, HPV.
There are, however, many natural remedies that work extremely well. They include apple cider vinegar, acupuncture, aromatherapy and building your immune system back up with all sorts of fun herbs and vitamins.
I’m a big fan of natural remedies and would probably never get surgery for a wart until I’d exhausted all the natural options.
What happens if you don’t get treatment?
You may have them for a while, they may replicate in number, or they may go away entirely. Each outcome is as individual as you are!
Luckily, they are not serious, so you can weigh all of your options, and decide which method you like the best.
