I had a mole removed 5 years ago and it was a small tag mole. The doctor removed it and also a LOT of skin around it; No cancer found. The skin raised up and so i went back to the doctor and he just gave me a shot inside the mole (skin) to shrink it. Ever since then my skin has itches on the spot. Confused why it would itch for so long....... any answers?

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Just before that I had a mole come on by my collar bone, which has grown and it does itch. I'm taking 33 treatments of radiation now, I'm on my 11th one. Can my surgeon remove this and send in for me?

Jessica - Please go and see a dermatologist, you are describing exactly what I had.
2 doctors said that it was nothing, but I had it cut out and it was sent off for biopsy.
Turned out to be a nodular melanoma. I have just had a wide local excision of the area and a sentinel node biopsy. Awaiting to see if the node biopsy was clear of any cancer cells.

Nathan- If you think you need to get a mole checked out, definitely do it, even if you don't have insurance. I don't have insurance right now and I went to the doctor yesterday to get mine checked. Usually, in the past I've have to pay $95 for a visit and they bill me in the mail. And if I don't have all the cash when the bill comes, I'll just make payments- interest free. If it is cancerous then the small bill is well worth paying, and if not well at least the bill was small and you know. My doctor just looked at mine and said it's no big deal. I'm going to see a dermatologist because I wanted it actually checked not just looked at. So for me, my first visit was a waste. My advice, go see a dermatologist who will actually test your mole, not a regular doctor who will just look at it.

I think I have a mole on the side of my breast close to my armpit. If I remember correctly it started off looking like a pimple or ingrown hair... it was red and painful. Of course my pinching and poking at it did not help at all either. Eventually it scabbed over and now it is brown slightly raised and itchy. It was itchy when I first noticed it but when I noticed again I thought it seemed weird that a freckle would itch. I am going to keep a closer eye on this and see if anything else changes and I may mention it when I go back to the dr in a couple of weeks.

I had an itchy mole. It was new and it bothered me for a couple of weeks. I went to my dermatologist and she biopsied it. It turned out it was squamous cell carcinoma...the second deadliest skin cancer. I was glad I had it checked. Since both my mother and sister had malignant melanoma, I contacted a dermatologist earlier in the year and I see her about every other month now! I just had a little mole on my face that I've had for years start itching for 2 days now. I am making an appointment first thing Monday. I suggest any of you with an itchy mole get it checked asap even if it looks "normal".

I looked up an itchy mole which appeared on my back several months ago. I thought I was just being silly worrying about it, but i will be making an appointment with my doctor ASAP thanks to all of your comments. I will keep you all informed. Watch this space!

Thanks for this information. I recently developed a mole on my left eyelid and one day I noticed it had really grown AND it was itchy! Then, my eyelid had the nerve of twitching as well! So, I finally remembered to sit down and look up "itchy moles". I will check it out. I am a navy vet so I can go to the VA. Hopefully Nathan was able to see someone. Don't forget that "vets"... we can go to the VA for help for FREE!

Thanks for the honesty. My pimary care doc blew me off when I showed him an area of concern. It still itches and it's growing so I'm going to go see a specialist first thing tomarrow. Seriously, thanks.
