3 Organic Skin Care Recipes That Work

by Ingela

ADVERTISEMENTS

Here are 3 organic skin care recipes for your whole body that work as well as or better than the store bought ones. They are easy to make, and they’ll make your skin softer than silk.

I use mostly organic skin care moisturizers nowadays. They are still quite pricey to buy compared to the non organic stuff (anyone else feeling like they’re being punished for going the natural way?! ;) ).

In my hunt for something affordable, I came across the idea of using food for my skin. It might sound a little strange to some, but to me it’s very natural, and gives amazing results!

I do believe the best way to nurture your skin is through the food you eat. Fruits, greens and raw healthy fats are the most important for my skin to look, and feel good. But sometimes I need something that works fast, to battle my dried up skin from the weather, too much hand washing and what not.

The benefit of making organic skin care recipes is quite obvious. No pesticides, no preservatives and no poisons!

#1. Simple Organic Avocado Skin Moisturizer

This organic skin care recipe makes my hands really soft, and my skin sucks it in faster than the world’s best vacuum cleaner.

Avocados are healing, anti-bacterial, good for sun harmed skin and you can use them all-over!

Avocados contain 25 % fats and soften dry skin without clogging up your pores. And no, this will not make your skin green, as long as you rub it in completely ;) .

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe Organic Avocado
  • 1-2 tsp Organic Olive or Almond oil
  • Optional: 1-2 drops Essential Oil

My Instructions

  1. Mix the avocado in a blender until it’s smooth. It needs to be completely smooth so it can be rubbed into the skin without difficulty.
  2. Mix in the oil. And a scent, if you don’t like the funky, earthy avocado smell ;)
  3. Massage the cream into your dry skin until it resolves. If there’s any pulp left on the skin, just brush it off gently.

Stores in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Extra Tips!

  • If you want to get what’s left used up, you can use it as a face mask.
  • You can use this as an intensive mask for your hands, feet or any body part, by covering them for 15 minutes or longer and then rinsing it off.
  • If you didn’t use essential oils, you can just eat what’s left!

It works very well for me, in fact, I’m still feeling the softness from it, and I used it yesterday. I hope it works as well for you!

#2. Oatmeal-Honey Body Scrub

If your skin looks a bit flaky, oily or coarse, it might need some this oatmeal-honey mix.

The oatmeal gently scrubs of the most outer skin and excess oil while the honey softens and heals.

Ingredients
Equal parts of:

  • Organic Oatmeal (Rolled oats mixed in blender until powdered)
  • Organic Honey

My Instructions

  1. Blend the oatmeal and the honey.
  2. Wash your skin and dry it with a towel.
  3. Rub it in gently. If you like, you can let it sit for a while.
  4. Wash it of with lukewarm water.

I use raw honey since it is the pure and natural, and it’s more beneficial than processed, dead honey ;) .

#3. Soothing ‘Just-Cucumber’ Skin Water

Cucumber works by  soothing, tightening and cleansing your skin. It’s very mild on the skin, so it works well with all skin types.

If you have freckles that are dear to you, beware, cucumber might reduce your precious spots.

Ingredients

  • Organic Cucumber

My Instructions

  1. Peel the cucumber, cut it in smaller pieces and put it in the blender.
  2. Mix until it’s smooth. If there are pieces left in the water just pour it through a fine strainer.
  3. Wash your face with it. It’s very refreshing. It’s also great for sunburns or insect bites.

It will keep up to a week refrigerated. If your skin feels dry afterwards, apply a little coconut or olive oil.

Don’t be scared off by how simple these organic skin care recipes are, I’ve found them to work great for me. Try them, and let me know how it turns out! :)

How to apply before and after bathing?

Ingela August 9, 2009 at 9:03 am

The moisturizer and face water you’ll want to apply only after bathing, or they won’t help much. Just dry yourself gently with a towel and then apply on your clean skin.

Hope that helps!
