Im 23 years old and my eczema started when I was around 11. I have terrible scars all over my legs mainly (dark patches) from scratching the heck out of it and getting blisters. I know I also scratch my legs unconsciously until I get blisters and bleed (sorry tmi), that turns into scabs, that turn into scars

It has really affected my self-esteem. I live in Los Angeles and have to look at girls flaunt their legs during summer while Im wearing jeans or something cover up my terrible scars. I can’t even remember when was the last time my legs saw the sun light.

I try to drink plenty of water and keep my skin moisturized to ease a bit of the scalyness causing me to scratch. I find eating anything citrusy and spicy food to make the itch worse. When shaving, I like to use hair conditioner instead of shaving cream. I find it more moisturizing.

As for the scars, they fade a little bit over time but since I have so many, it really makes me conscious and have almost given up hope of ever being able to wear anything that would expose my scars.

Has anyone tried to bleach their scars? Please help >.<

Hey every one!
I to suffer from eczema, Im 26 and I’ve suffered from Eczema since I was 13.
Eczema really does get you down, it has affected me in so many ways, I have a lack of confidence and low self-esteem, which is why I have never had a boy friend! I am really terrified to get close to a guy. Due to all the dis-colouration and scars all over my body. Right now I am really trying to build my confidence due to the fact that my eczema has calm down alot because I have changed my diet to a WHEAT FREE diet.
Believe my guys, it has helped my skin alot it doesn’t itch as much as before.
As for the scars Im using just Epaderm onitment. Which helps a bit but not that much.

I’ve had eczema since birth and i’m now 21! over time its got worse….mainly due to stress! I started gettin spots all over my legs, it’s like loads of mosquito bites and they leave dark scars. I use Bio oil on them it takes a few weeks but the scars disappear…works really well!

also another thing that helps if you are home alone and you are iching like crazy! then if u have a banana put the inside of the peel on your eczema and it cools it down. might as well give it a try!

my name is grace and i am 13 years old. i am very altheletic and am on a swim team, jr lifeguards (@ a pool and in the ocean), volley ball and everything else u can think of that shows your legs! i have had eczema since i was born! in the summer it gets really hot, sweaty and dry (especially with the clorine and sea water drying it out all the time) going in and out of the water dries it out even more! plus when i get all sweaty it spreads! i do put on sun block and lotion but now i have these white paches of scars and ive tried every lotion but lotion just helps the dryness not the scars! does aloe vera really help? after swim practice on night one of my guy friends on the team asked “why do u have sploches all over your legs?” i was emarassed but mostly cause i didnt want to tell him that i had eczema (it might sound like some disease!) please someone tell me just to get rid of the scars!? -by the way the lotion called ‘Curel’ and ‘Cetaphil’ really helps get rid of the eczema part!

ECZEMA IS HORRIBLE!!!
I have had eczema since I was a little kid, and it has seem to be going away.
But I have these scars all over my legs that I want to get rid of without paying alot of money to go to the doctor. Im 17 so I don’t have any money like that. How can I get rid of them, because I don’t want these scars to ruin my life by me not wearing shorts and skirts in the summer time. And when I go to college I don’t want to wear pants all the time. Please help me!!

Well hey my name is Morgan and i am sixteen. I’ve been having eczema since I was born and it went away, but it left marks around the corners of my mouth. I don’t know how to get rid of those scars there. Its very hard for me, I’ve had low self-esteem all my life and I just really wanna get rid of it.

I wear makeup over it all the time but i just stop wearing it and show my real face. I tried retin prescribed, but it hasn’t worked for me and I also tried other fading creams from the pharmacy. I don’t know what to do but please contact me if you know what I need: mz.candygurl1993 [at] yahoo.com

Hi I’ve on the same page as most of you concerning the scarring but I feel like I’ve been affected more by it being African-American.I’m 17 and I’ve had eczema since I was about 3 but the scarring occurred at the age of about 7.So for ten years of my life I’ve been afraid to wear any shorts, skirts, dresses, short sleeved shirts, anything that showed my scars.They’re all over my body and it has really lowered my self esteem.I don’t want anything to do with proms, water parks, and I hate hot days simply because I can’t dress the way I want.But believe me I’ve tried to show my body but that was when I was about 10.And when I did that I got teased about it too.The only place I show anything is at home around my family.I just really feel as if it’s had such an ugly impact on my life because this is the skin I’m in forever until some “miracle” comes along.It just hurts because I can’t feel pretty or blossom how I dream of.People have always told me that my scars will just eventually fade away on their own but I’ve grown to believe that’s bull.But I’ve recently started using Aloe Vera gel, Shea Butter, and Vitamin E cream to test the waters.For me the steroid creams didn’t work so hopefully the options I’m using now will over time.

Okay, I had eczema on my right knee, (about the size of half of a closed fist) since the birth of my son. It’s been 2 years and I’ve ignored it. Just recently it started bothering me SO much and getting so itchy and I never really understood eczema so I just scratched the hell out of it.

I looked online a bit and heard of a million different creams to try and I’ve used them all. I’d say maybe 3 have worked for me. So, then I started trying different things on my own – I figured what’s the worst that could happen? I am not a nurse (yet.. still in school!) and I’m not a dermatologist, or a doctor – but I’ll tell you what I tried and it worked just perfect for me.

I used white vinegar, on a little cotton puff (the ones you use to take off make up) I soak it in vinegar with a little water and I put it on the eczema for 15 mins and it completely dries it up. It burns, it hurts, it itches, it sucks – but I do it.

Then when it’s dried up, I immediately cover it in a very thick layer of Spectro EczemaCare lotion. I leave it for 20 mins and let it absorb. Then I rub the rest in, and then put on a layer of vaseline.

I only do the vinegar thing once a day, but I soak the eczema in the spectro gel and vaseline at least 4-5 times a day. I am persistent!

In the shower I shave over it when shaving my legs, I also use a loofa over it too – it actually helped to remove dead skin cells and flakes and cause the area to be smoother. Then again with the spectro gel and vaseline right out of the shower. (for me I found that eucerin did not work – unfortunately.)

I did that for a week and a half and it totally cleared up. No bleeding, no itching, no red marks or bumps. NOW, I have yellow/orange pigmentation. I guess I have some scars.

I do the same routine as before, and I also get a lot of sunlight outside on it, I also apply vitamin E….. it is working like a charm. While the discoloration may not be completely gone for maybe a few months, I can see it clearing up more and more everyday. I am very pleased and I hope this works for someone else.

I realize that some of the things I have done may be the total wrong way to go about clearing up my eczema and scars, but I found it to help me and I’m really happy.

My Eczema did not start until I was 38 years old. It’s on my legs and my hand. This started happening after surgery so I have two long scars from surgery plus these black marks from the eczema. I live in the south and it gets extreemly hot. I dread this time of year becuse I feel aweful wearing shorts or skirts. Now it’s all over my face. I look like a spotted human LOL!!! It’s a bit disturbing when people keep looking at you when you walk by. Can somone suggest something that can get rid of these scars?
